Run migration file

The Run Migration File action migrates data from an existing migration or export file into a destination database. The Run Migration File action follows the Compare and Migrate or Specify and Export action. In other words, you can only run the migration or export file after you have migrated or exported the data from the source database. To run a migration file, you must have write access to the destination database.

Note: This option cannot be used if the migration file is encrypted.

To run the migration file:

  1. Launch the Migration Tool.
  2. In the Select Action page, select Run Migration File and then click Next.
The Connect to Database page is displayed.
  3. From the Destination Database drop-down list, select the destination database.

This represents the database to where you want to migrate or export the data. In order to migrate data into the destination database, you must have write access to it.

If you cannot find the destination database in the drop-down list, then you must create a new database connection. For steps on how to create a new database connection, see Create a new database connection.

  4. In the Password field, specify the database password for the destination database.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Next. The Specify Migration File page is displayed.
  7. Click Browse to search and select the desired filename.
  8. Click Next. The Validate Migration File page is displayed.
  9. In the Validate Migration File page, verify that the records should be migrated to the destination database.
This screen is not editable. If any of the records in this screen should not be migrated, you must return to the Select Action page to recreate the migration or export file with the proper data before you perform the Run Migration File action again.
  10. Optional. Click View Migration Contents to analyze the Migration Summary Report.
  11. Click Next > Migrate. The Migration Details pop-up window is displayed.
  12. In the User Name field, specify your name.
  13. In the Purpose field, specify the reason why you are performing the migration.
  14. Click OK.
Once the Migration Tool has successfully finished migrating the data from the migration or export file to the destination database, the following message is displayed:
Data was successfully migrated to <database name>.
  15. Optional. Click View Migrated Data to view the migrated data report.
  16. Select one of the following two options:
    • To end the migration process, click Done to return to the Select Action page.
    • To run another migration file, click Run Another Migration File to return to the Specify Migration File screen and return to step 7.
