The employee works 4 hours in the shift premium zone from 02:00 to 06:00 at a rate of $15.00 an hour.

Start Time End Time Hours Rate Time Code Hour Type
02:00 06:00 4 15.00 WRK REG

Because the GUAR premium does not have start and end times, the entire premium is considered when determining how much to pay out. In this case, the employee is paid the night premium for a total of 8 hours.

02:00 06:00 4 15.00 WRK REG
06:00 10:00 4 15.00 GUAR REG

Because the GUAR premium has start and end times, only the portion of the premium that falls within the shift premium zone is considered. In this case, only the guaranteed hour from 06:00 to 0:700 falls within the zone, so the employee is paid the night premium for a total of 5 hours.
