Setting up exports

Configuring a new export involves these steps:

  1. Determine export fields.
  2. Verify the mapping definition.
  3. Schedule and configure the export task through the Job Scheduler module.

Determining the export fields

The application’s standard export interfaces contain a set of pre-defined fields from which you can choose to use all fields or just a subset. Depending on which export interface you choose, you can also set a number of mapping and data formatting directives.

Note: These procedures are for exporting a CSV format file. See Fixed Width Import and Export logic.

Verifying the mapping definitions

Every system value that is being exported must be mapped. Mapping is configured using XML through the Mapping Definitions page.

See Mapping framework.

The Payroll Export Interface implements a different XML mapping mechanism, which is specific to Employee Export (HR Export) Interfaces. See Payroll Export Interface.

Scheduling and configuring export tasks

The last step to setting up an export involves scheduling and configuring the export task for exporting data from the application to the Workforce Management WBINT_EXPORT (staging) table or CSV file using the Job Scheduler.

To use an export interface and configure the interface parameters, see the specific standard export interface section for the task type.

After you have completed the previous general export setup steps, the actual data export process can be set up to run either periodically according to the Job Scheduler scheduled run time, or manually.

For detailed configuration of each standard interface, see the specific standard interface sections within this chapter.
