Description:

This parameter is one of the default properties that are set up when the system is installed. These default properties are all stored in the system Registry and can be changed per installation.

This property sets the level and appender for the root logger. Setting the level to ERROR means that only error messages are output, since ERROR is the highest severity. The second value, R, is an appender that is configured by the properties listed below. To add more appenders, simply add them to the list, separated by comma. For example, “ERROR, stdout, R” adds standard output as an appender.
