Staffing Requirements

Staffing requirements are defined for every team and determine what is required for a time period (job time) in order for employees to be scheduled for shifts. Staffing requirements define the required jobs, skills, and activities used to schedule employees for work. Other labor metrics, such as docket and project, can also be optionally defined in the staffing requirements.

Requirements are also defined for each employee when the employee is set up in the system. When a schedule is generated, the system checks a team's staffing requirements and then checks the employee details to determine if any matches exist.

If you want to associate priorities with teams or jobs, you define them using staffing requirements. Priorities are used in scheduling to determine the order in which requirements are filled/assigned.

Staffing requirements are entered manually in the system, although you can copy requirements from a previous period to use them as a template when creating new requirements.

You can update staffing requirements using any census data previously entered. This takes the census data resulting from the previous census calculations and updates/creates the staffing requirements with the data. For more information on census requirements, see Census.

Staffing requirements are used in coverage calculations to indicate the required number of employees. For more information on coverage calculations, see Coverage.
