Book Off

The Book-Off operation allows you to assign an employee to be off either because the employee cannot work (illness or injury) or the job is overstaffed.

An employee can be booked off for an entire day, a specific range of time (start/end time) within a day, or a range of days.

The following occurs when an employee is booked off:

  1. If the employee was already scheduled to work a shift within the time frame that the employee was subsequently booked off, the employee is removed from the related assignment. The related unstaffed shift remains on the schedule for the supervisor’s attention.
  2. One of the following occurs if:
    • the book-off is due to an employee absence, then the employee is marked with an absence time code.
    • the book-off is due to overstaffing, then the employee is not marked with an absence time code, and therefore, the employee is still available and can be assigned to work shifts for which the employee is eligible. Delete the overstaffed shift from which the employee was booked-off, from the schedule.

A balance validation process is triggered when a book off action is attempted. For information about balance validation, see Balance Validation for Book-Off.
