Displaying out-of-context shift information

When employees work in multiple jobs, teams, or rotations, out-of-context shift information is available in the Position view, Unit view, and Rotation view.

Position view

The Position view provides you with schedule information for employees working in multiple jobs. Each shift cell is labeled with information about the other jobs to which the employee is committed. This labeling allows you to better understand the “out-of-context” shifts worked by each employee within each job grouping.

For example, an employee is scheduled to shifts in Job 1 and Job 2. In the Position view of the ASV, this employee’s schedule is displayed in both the Job 1 and Job 2 groupings. The label “Job 2” is automatically displayed in the shift cells inside of the Job 1 grouping. Conversely, the label "Job 1" is automatically displayed in the shift cells inside of the Job 2 grouping.

The Position view can be configured to group employees and shifts for associated jobs under the section of the parent job. If this grouping is enabled, shifts for associated jobs are displayed in the shift cell as if they are shifts for their parent job. In the example above, if Job 2 is an associated job of Job 1, shifts for Job 2 would be displayed in the section for Job 1 and would not be labeled any differently than other shifts for Job 1.

See the section "Grouping by associated jobs" in the Infor Workforce Management MVS Implementation and Administration Guide for details.

Unit view

The Unit view provides you with schedule information for employees working on multiple teams. Only the teams selected in the Unit lookup are initially displayed in an expanded format. The expanded format lists all the team members. Any other teams are out-of-context and are automatically collapsed with only the team names displayed.

For example, an employee is assigned to the CARDIO and ICU teams. When you load the schedule for the CARDIO team and navigate to the Unit view, the employee's schedule is displayed for the CARDIO team and automatically collapsed for the out-of-context ICU team. You must expand the collapsed ICU team to view the details.

Rotation view

The Rotation view provides you with schedule information for employees working in multiple rotations across different teams. Only the rotations for the teams selected in the Unit lookup are initially displayed in an expanded format. The expanded format lists all the employees assigned to the rotation. Any rotations that belong to other teams are out-of-context and are automatically collapsed with only the rotation names displayed.

For example an employee is scheduled in the R1 rotation for the CARDIO team and the R2 rotation for the ANAESTHETICS team. When you load the schedule for the ANAESTHETICS team and navigate to the Rotation view, the employee's schedule is displayed for the R2 (ANAESTHETICS) rotation and automatically collapsed for the out-of-context R1 (CARDIO) rotation. You must expand the collapsed R1 (CARDIO) rotation to view the details.
