Key performance indicators

The key performance indicators (KPIs) of the schedule you are currently viewing in the Master Rotation (MR) or One-time Schedule (OTS) edit screen are displayed in the Details panel. This includes how many shifts are plotted, the number of hours scheduled, and the cost of the schedule. The number of hours displayed excludes break activities. The number of shifts and hours are updated as you add or remove shifts from the schedule.

The KPI information is calculated for the dates and schedule rows that you are currently viewing in the schedule or schedule rotation. The information is updated when you change the date range you are viewing or when you use row filters to only show certain rows.

Shifts that are created in any other part of the application are not included in the number of hours, shifts, or cost calculations. Shifts marked as long-term absence (LTA) shifts are not included in the number of hours or shifts displayed. LTA shifts are included in the cost calculation only if the LTA activity contributes to cost.

Schedule costing for MR and OTS

The cost of the currently displayed schedule is displayed in the Details panel. Cost calculations are only updated when the schedule is saved. An icon is displayed next to the cost of the schedule to indicate there are unsaved changes in the schedule.

Cost is calculated differently depending on the editing mode you are using and the configuration of the application. When editing an MR or OTS schedule, shifts contribute to cost if an employee is assigned to the row containing the shifts. The cost of the shifts is calculated using the assigned employee's actual rates and pay rules, or based on the rates for the job and labor metrics that are associated with the row. Shifts on unassigned rows have a cost of zero.

When you are in row editing mode and working with MR rotation rows or OTS template rows, the cost of the schedule is estimated. The cost attributed to each shift is determined by the configuration of the job that is assigned to the row. The same cost is attributed if an employee is assigned to the row in the actual schedule or if no employee is assigned to the row. This gives you an estimate of the cost of a single schedule rotation, even if the actual schedule cost may differ because the assigned employees are paid more or less than the job's average hourly rate.
