Skills

Each employee has a list of skills that they possess in their employee profile. These skills can be certifications, competencies, or qualifications that may also be effective-dated. When a new shift is defined, skills can be associated to the shift as qualification factors. Each skill on a shift can be mandatory or non-mandatory. An employee must have all mandatory skill qualifications to be staffed. Warnings are provided when employees do not meet skill requirements that are non-mandatory, but the employees can still be assigned if required.

A numerical proficiency level is specified for each skill that is added to a shift. Employees must have the skill with a proficiency level that is the same or greater than the specified proficiency level to satisfy the skill requirement. Same as if the employee does not have the skill, employees that have a lower proficiency for a mandatory skill than the required value cannot be assigned to the shift. Warnings are provided when the assigned employee does not have the required proficiency level for a non-mandatory skill.

Client requirements determine the set of relevant skills in an organization and the required proficiency levels. Skills are set up using the Skills Detail page, accessed through Maintenance > Employees > Skills.
