Level

These enforcement level options are available when configuring self-scheduling group rules.

Error

The system does not let the employee proceed with their selection.

If the combination is a final submission that causes an error, the employee can save the shift causing the error. However, the shift is removed once Submit is clicked.

Warning

  • The system notifies the employee that their selection triggered a warning. However, the employee can proceed with their selection.
  • If the combination is a shift selection that causes an error, the system pre-filters out shifts that prospectively cause the error.

Employee constraint parameters provide you with a way to apply the rule to only certain employees within a group. If these options are not specified, all employees are included by default:

  • Employee Type (Jobs)
  • Default Hours
  • FTE Parameter

Shift constraint parameters determine the shifts and days to which the rule applies. The Quantity of the field has these choices:

  • Number of Hours
  • Number of Shifts

The value entered in the Where Number equals field will either be the FTE, number of shifts, or number of hours.

There are there shift types that can apply to the rule:

  • On-call
  • Work time
  • Available

In the On the following Day Type field, there are several options available to determine the time frame of the rule. All Days indicate that the rule applies to all day types (weekends and weekdays), whereas there’s also the choice to apply the rule to only Weekend Days or Weekday Days. Both of these options require that the user enter more information, such as the start day and time of the week and the end day and time of the week.

The Period Parameter field controls the length of time for which the rule is valid. There are three options:

  • Weekly: Rules span over one week (that is, at least 1 on-call shift per week) and re-set for the next week.
  • Bi-Weekly: Rules span two weeks (that is, no more than 1 Monday shift bi-weekly).
  • Scheduling Period: Rules span the schedule period set in Maintenance > Schedule Settings > Schedule Period. We recommend that you change the schedule period to match the length of your schedules. Otherwise, the default is seven days.
