Overview

The Employee Loan and Borrow (ELaB) feature allows store managers to loan employees temporarily to another location. Any active employee can be loaned for a specific period of time known as the borrow period. During the borrow period, the employee can work at another location to help the borrowing store meet staffing needs.

ELaB currently supports loaning employees at the store level. If an employee is loaned to a store, the employee is assigned shifts with jobs for which the employee is eligible. Eligible employees can be assigned jobs in any department within the store hierarchy. The job assignment can be for the duration of the borrow period.

The current solution is for post optimization only. Post optimization means that schedules must be generated for the home location and the borrow location before using ELaB. ou cannot loan or borrow an employee and have the Optimizer assign their shifts only during the borrow period.

Store managers who borrow an employee can schedule the employee to a single shift or multiple shifts on their schedule. The employee is accessible to the borrow manager for the entirety of the borrow period and can be assigned to work any job for which the employee is eligible.

The ELaB employee will be notified (using Messaging functionality) that they have been loaned to work in another location for the indicated days. However, they are not provided with any specific information, such as in which department they will be working. (Managers will have to communicate these details.)

Employee shift assignment during the borrow period is not exclusive to the borrow manager. The home location manager can continue to assign loaned employees to shifts in their home location during the borrow period, which can result in multiple shifts in multiple locations. For example, the home store manager may see that the employee is assigned to work 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the borrow location, and then schedule the employee to work a 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM shift in the home location.

Store managers should communicate with one another when planning to schedule ELaB employees in multiple locations on the same day.
