Specifying Primary Departments

Sometimes multiple departments in a single store use the same drivers. For example, the men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing departments may all use the same apparel driver. The Budget Creation module should count this driver data only once, and it should count it only for a single department. The primary department identifies which department is the primary user of a particular driver. A driver can have only one primary department for any given time period. Each driver must be associated with a primary department, because this is the department for which a driver forecast is aggregated.

A single department can use multiple drivers. Conversely, multiple departments in LFSO can share a single driver.

To specify primary departments:

  1. Select Maintenance > Optional Modules > Labor Budgeting > Labor Budgeting Settings > Primary Department.
The Primary Department page is displayed. This page displays drivers, the associated primary departments, and the time period.
  2. Decide whether to define a new primary department or update an existing one:
    • To define a new primary department, click Create New Entry.
