Message links and external inbox behavior
When message notifications such as workflow approvals are forwarded to an external email inbox, each message includes a link. The link directs users to the appropriate portal message view. The portal view depends on the user's security group default portal configuration.
These routing behaviors depend on message type:
- For INTERACTION and INTERACTION_RESEND messages, the link routes to the Admin Portal Interaction Inbox.
- For INTERACTION_REPLY messages, the link routes to the Admin Portal Interaction Reply view.
- For all other message types such as MAIL, the link routes to the Admin Portal Messages view.
- If the user's default portal is the Self-Service Portal, the link routes to the SSP Messages view.
Note: SURVEY and ONLINE_TEST message types are no longer supported and does not generate external box links.
If the user does not have access to the default portal or the associated message page, the link is redirected to an alternate portal. If the user does not have access to either portal, an appropriate error message is displayed.
