Assigning employees to shifts

You can assign employees to unassigned shifts in Central Staffing.

  1. Load a schedule.
  2. Right-click an unassigned shift and select Assign Shift.
The Assign Shift pop-up is displayed.
  3. To filter the employee list results, select the check box of these categories:
    • Available: filters all available employees.
    • Qualified by job: Filters by employees who are qualified by the skill required for the job.
    • Qualified by skill: Filters by employees who are qualified by the job.
    • Team members only: Returns employees who are part of the team only.
Note: When Team members only is not selected, all employees from the teams that you can access are displayed in the employee list.
  4. In the Employee(s) field, click the database lookup and select the employee to assign to the shift.

In the employee selection table, you can view details such as the employee’s preferred job, skills, home team, and alternate team. These attributes help identify suitable employees for the shift assignment.

Note: These columns are configurable and are hidden by default for upgrading customers.
  5. Click Submit.
The employee assignment is validated for job and skill qualifications, schedule overlaps, and schedule compliance warnings or errors. The employee is assigned to the shift if no issues are found.
  6. If warnings or errors are found, a list of warnings or errors is displayed in the pop-up. Perform one of these options:
    • If only warnings are found, click Submit again to confirm the warnings and assign the employee. Or, you can select a different employee or click Close to cancel the assignment.
    • If any errors are found, the assignment cannot be completed. Select another employee or click Close to cancel the assignment.
