Identification mode

Note: Identification mode on the 8000 Series clock requires OS 1.4.3 Patch D. Contact Infor Support if you need more information on upgrading to this OS and patch level.

If identification mode for biometric authentication is enabled, employees can clock in with an enrolled fingerprint or face and not a badge number. You can configure readers such that some employees can use biometrics while others can use a badge and PIN or badge only. Identification mode also supports Swipe & Go and directionless swiping.

A badge is not required with this option, although for configuration purposes a placeholder badge for the employee must be entered in the system.

Note: Identification mode is only supported for WFM version 6.4.x+ and Clock version 7.0.x+. If you have deployed WFM 6.4.x+ and you want to use this feature, you can upgrade your clocks to 7.0.x+ and then modify the biometric mode in WFM.

Verification mode

Verification mode for biometric authentication maintains the legacy implementation of requiring an enrolled fingerprint and a badge number (with optional PIN).

Both identification and verification is used with the 8000-Series clock and apply to all types of supported biometric readers such as Smack Bio and Suprema. Both modes require that employees enroll a fingerprint on the clock and then use the fingerprint to validate themselves.

Fingerprint enrollment

The number of fingerprints an employee can enroll depends on the clock model, operating system version, and Workforce Management (WFM) version.

Note: Only one fingerprint is enrolled per employee for 8000 series clocks, regardless of WFM OS or clock version.

During fingerprint enrollment, the clock displays the number of fingerprints already enrolled by the employee and the total number of fingerprints the employee is allowed to enroll.

When an employee reaches the maximum number of fingerprints supported by the clock, the access to the fingerprint enrollment screen is not allowed, and the following rejection messages are displayed:

Fingerprint Limit Reached: This message is displayed if more than one fingerprint is supported,
Already enrolled: This message is displayed if only one fingerprint is supported.

Note: If a clock is upgraded from a configuration that supports only one fingerprint to a configuration that supports multiple fingerprints, the next fingerprint enrollment uses the lowest available finger number.

Note: Template limits for the clock do not necessarily equate to the number of supported employees. For example, in Verification mode you can have an unlimited number of templates but there is a limit to the number of employees that you can have on the clock. You can have 10,000 employees on the 8000 Series clock, but as long as only 9050 are biometric and using idenification mode (maximum supported value for Suprema biometric reader) and the other 950 employees are not, the clock will support this.
