Shift trades

A shift trade is a process by which an employee offers a shift from his or her schedule to another employee, or exchanges shifts with another employee.

Shift trades can only occur between employees with equivalent job qualifications and skills, and when the substitute employee is available to take the shift.

When initiating a shift trade, the initiating employee must review all shift details before confirming the trade

This helps prevent conflicts in terms of pay and responsibilities. For example, a WRK shift that is traded for an ONCALL shift may affect responsibilities. An RN shift that is traded for a Shift Leader shift may also cause monetary difference.

It is important that you review the shift type and other shift details even if you are qualified for both shifts. This avoids unexpected changes in duties or compensation.
