Creating a Master Rotation

You can create a Master Rotation (MR) for selected team members or for every member of a team.

  1. Select Scheduling > Multi-view Scheduler > Master Rotation > Manage Master Rotation.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Unit
Select the unit or team to use this MR.
    Sub-unit(s)
Optionally, select specific sub-units or select ALL to include all sub-units under the selected parent team.
    Include Alternate Team
Select this check box to include employees whose home team or alternate home team matches the selected units or sub-units. The check box is active only when the ALLOW_DUAL_TEAM_HIERARCHY registry parameter is set to TRUE.

If you select this check box while ALLOW_DUAL_TEAM_HIERARCHY is set to FALSE an error message is displayed specifying that Dual Team Hierarchy is not enabled. Please enable Dual Team Hierarchy option through the registry setting.

If you select this check box while HOME_TEAM_TYPE os set to HYBRID and ALLOW_DUAL_TEAM_HIERARCHY is set to TRUE, this error message is displayed: Include Alternate Team is not applicable when Home Team Type registry is set to Hybrid.

When a rotation is created with the Include Alternate Team check box enabled, the rotation continues to use the alternate team inclusion logic even if the ALLOW_DUAL_TEAM_HIERARCHY or HOME_TEAM_TYPE registry settings are modified after creation.

Note: For new and upgrading users, the Include Alternate Team check box is hidden by default. Click the Turn ON Config mode icon to configure the appropriate security permissions.
    Include Areas
Select the check box to include areas in the rotation.

This check box is disabled if specific sub-units are selected. Similarly, you cannot select sub-units if this check box is enabled. Selecting this option disables the Assign Staff buttons and the Job option is selected by default.

    Name
Specify a name for the MR.
    Description
Optionally, specify a description of the MR.
    Staffing Requirement Template
Optionally, select a Staffing Requirement Templates (SRTs). If selected, the MR uses workload requirements from the chosen SRTs to determine staffing coverage.

When you select an SRT that includes alternate home teams, the Include Alternate Team check box becomes read-only for the new rotation.

Note: You can only select one staffing template per team. Selecting more than one results in an error upon submission. Additionally, a warning appears if you select SRTs with varying effective dates when creating the MR.
    Start Date
Specify the date for the MR to start.
    End Date
Specify the end date for the MR.
    Template Length
Specify the number of days for the rotation. For example, specify 7 to repeat the shift patterns every seven days.
  4. Determine how to create schedule rows in the MR by selecting one of these options in the Assign Staff section:
    Team
Select this option to create a schedule row in the MR for every employee in the selected team or unit.

When the Include Alternate Team check box is selected, dual hierarchy logic is applied. You can assign employees to both a primary home team and an alternate home team.

    Individual Employees
Select this option and specify the employees in the Select Employees field to create a schedule row in the MR for specific employees. By selecting this option, you can select employees from both the selected parent team and its sub-units.

Employees from both home and alternate teams are shown when you selected the Include Alternate Team check box. If an employee belongs to the selected unit in both the home and alternate team, they are shown twice in the Individual Employees list.

    Jobs
Select this option to create an MR with a specified number of rows per job.
See Creating a Master Rotation with number of rows per job.
  5. If the Team or Individual Employees option is selected, then select the default sorting to apply to rows in the MR in the Employee Sort drop-down menus. Rows can be sorted by Employee Name or Employee ID in Ascending or Descending order.
  6. If the Team or Individual Employees option is selected, then select the default set of labor metrics for rows in the MR in the Row Costing drop-down menu. Select Employee-based to use labor metrics from each employee's default labor allocation. Select Row-based option to use the labor metrics that are applied to each row.
  7. Select the Auto Row Naming check box to automatically number rows based on the row order. Clear this check box to allow row names to be updated manually.
  8. Click Create.

The new Master Rotation is displayed in the MR edit screen where you can design the base rotation for the schedule.
