Coverage calculations
The level of staff coverage is determined by comparing the shifts plotted in the schedule with the required workload from the Staffing Requirements Template (SRT).
You can determine how to calculate staff coverage using the Display Employee Count list. The By Over/Under option calculates the staff coverage as the number of units over or under the workload requirement. The By Coverage option calculates staff coverage as a ratio between the workload requirement and the assigned shifts in the schedule.
For example, if eight shifts are required for RNs on a particular day but only six are assigned on that day, the coverage calculated using the By Over/Under option is -2. The coverage calculated by the By Coverage option for the same example is 6/8.
As of the 2026.03 release, when USE_ASSOCIATED_JOBS is set to true, coverage in MR/OTS and SRT is grouped under the parent job. Coverage values for associated jobs are combined and displayed based on the associated job configuration and ranking.
For example, if the job Clerk has associated jobs LPN (Rank 1) and RN (Rank 2), all coverage values are grouped and displayed under Clerk.
When coverage filters are used and set to Position, associated jobs are combined at the parent-job level in the Total Coverage panel.
This behavior applies to all schedule modes, including Draft, Unprocessed, and Processed.
For units with sub-teams, each team maintains its own associated-job grouping.
For example, if Emerg and its sub-team Cardio both use Clerk, LPN, and RN, coverage for each team is grouped under its respective parent job.
When a scheduler applies a job filter, the parent-job grouping remains, and the coverage values update based on the selected job.
