Activating a Master Rotation

When you finish creating the shift rotation and labor metrics for each row in the Master Rotation (MR), you can generate the schedule. Generating the schedule repeats the shift rotation and labor metrics.

  1. Select Scheduling > Multi-view Scheduler > Master Rotation > Manage Master Rotation.
  2. Click Edit for the MR.
  3. Click the Activate button.
  4. Click Activate to confirm.
  5. The rotation rows are checked for shift overlaps, schedule compliance issues, or any schedule exceptions such as:
    • If no shift overlaps or schedule compliance warnings or errors are found, the MR is activated.
    • If schedule compliance warnings are found, a dialog is displayed listing the warnings, but you can still generate the schedule. Click Activate to ignore the warnings and proceed, or click Close to cancel and fix the rotation rows.
    • If schedule compliance errors or shift overlaps are found, a dialog is displayed listing the issues. The MR cannot be activated. Click Close to cancel. Then, fix the schedule and run it again.
    • If exceptions occur during the activating process, use the MROTS_PUBLISH_CONFLICT_RESOLUTION_OPTION configuration key to define how conflicts are handled. The default value is OFF. When set to OFF, conflict resolution is disabled. When conflicts are encountered, they are treated as hard-stop errors and the publishing cannot continue. When set to SKIP, conflict resolution is enabled. Conflicting days such as those with an active book-off, billboard posting, pending swap, or assignment change are skipped and treated as warnings. Remaining shifts are published as expected. After publishing, an email notification is sent summarizing the exceptions and resolutions applied.
After addressing any issues found, the MR is activated and the status is updated to UNPROCESSED.
You can now use the date selectors in the Details pane to view the schedule that was generated for different time periods. You can also process the MR to publish the schedule.
