Shift generation from Workload and assign to employees

Shift generation is an automated process that creates shift records for a team over a scheduled period, based on the specified source of staffing requirements. As of the 2026.04 release, you can generate shifts directly from Workload and then assign them to employees.

This feature helps convert forecasted demand and staffing rules into a workable team schedule, eliminating the need to manually create and assign shifts.

To use this feature, you must complete these steps:

Configure an advanced schedule profile
See Configuring an Advanced Schedule Profile.
Set up the parameters for the batch shift generation task
See Setting the parameters of the BatchShiftsGeneration task.
Run the BatchShiftsGeneration task in the Job Scheduler.
See Adding the BatchShiftsGeneration task to the Job Scheduler.

After setup is complete, shift generation uses your workload to automatically create shifts and assign them to your team, based on your configuration.
