    Staffing Requirement Generation Option

Select the Use existing unassigned shifts option to run Auto-Assignment using only existing unassigned shifts in the team's schedule.

You can specify which unassigned shifts are included in the Staffing Requirements Generation Details section.

Use these additional options to customize your Staffing Requirement Generation:
    • Use staffing requirements minimum. Select this option to generate shifts from the minimum staffing requirements defined for the team. Schedules or shifts are created so that only minimum staffing requirement levels are met. When you select this option, the Create Unassigned Shifts Only check box and Include existing unassigned shifts for Auto-Assignment field are available in Staffing Requirement Generation Details.

You can use Create Unassigned Shifts Only on its own or both Create Unassigned Shifts Only and Include existing unassigned shifts for Auto-Assignment simultaneously. When both options are configured, existing unassigned shifts are considered. Only the deficit between the requirement and the number of existing unassigned shifts is generated or assigned.

    • Calculate requirements from forecast. Select this option to generate schedules based on forecasted workload data. Pre-existing workload requirements, created through forecasting, import,or manual setup, are used to determine staffing needs.

    • Use existing workload requirement. Select this option to generate a shifts based on the team's existing workload requirements. Before using this option, you must have generated workloads from forecasts, import, or manual creation.

When you select this option, the Create Unassigned Shifts Only check box and Include existing unassigned shifts for Auto-Assignment field are available in Staffing Requirement Generation Details.

You can use the options on their own, or both together. When both options are configured, existing unassigned shifts are considered and only the deficit between the workload requirement and number of existing unassigned shifts is generated or assigned.

    • Use regular shift templates. Select this option to generate a shift or schedule based on regular shift templates. Shifts are generated to fill any gaps between the existing schedule and the shifts defined in the shift template. When you select this option, the Create Unassigned Shifts Only check box and Include existing unassigned shifts for Auto-Assignment field, and Template field are available in Staffing Requirement Generation Details.

Create Unassigned Shifts Only and Include existing unassigned shifts for Auto-Assignment are both optional, but you can only use one field at a time when you select Use regular shift templates.

Both fields are optional, however you can only use one field at a time when generating staffing requirements using regular shift templates.
    • Use replacement shift templates. Select this option to replace existing shifts in the schedule using replacement shift templates. You can only select shift templates where the Replacement shifts option is enabled. When you select this option, the Template field in Staffing Requirement Generation Details is available.

    Create Unassigned Shift Only

Note: Before creating unassigned shifts, existing unassigned shifts in the team are checked. Exact matches, such as based on shift label, attributes, job, job association, and job pair, are treated as duplicates and skipped.
    Unassigned Shift Source
Select the shift source to include in the auto-assignment process. You can select from these options:
    • Rotation: Includes unassigned shifts created from Master Rotations and One-time Schedules.
    • Non-Rotation: Unassigned shifts created from Master Rotations or One -time Schedules are not included.
    • Both: Includes all unassigned shifts.

Specify the minimum number of hours that an employee is assigned to cover a single staff requirement within a shift.
Note: You can only specify whole numbers in this field, shorter increments are not supported.
