Adding clock readers
Note: Reader configuration varies with reader type. The fields on this screen must be set up in accordance with the Export Task field mappings.
See the Infor Workforce Management Interfaces Administration Guide and select Clock Reader Interface.
- Select Maintenance > Reader Setup > Reader Organization > Readers.
- Click Create New Entry.
- Specify this information:
- Reader
- Specify the name of the new reader.
- Description
- Provide a description of the new reader.
- Reader Type
-
Click the database lookup and select WB6000, WB8000, WB9000, Virtual, HTML, or TimeTrack.
Note: The swipe sharing feature is only supported for WB8000 and WB9000 clocks.
- Reader Group
- Click the database lookup and select the reader group to which the reader is assigned.
- Reader Status
- Click the database lookup and select whether the reader is online or offline.
- This does not apply to the WB8000 and WB9000 clocks.
- Reader Zone
- Specify a reader zone. Readers are associated with various locations or zones within an organization.
- Typically, all readers belong to the same zone.
- IP Address
- Specify the IP address of the reader for clocks connecting to the standalone clock server.
- For WB8000 and WB9000 clocks, specify a dummy IP address of 1.1.1.1 initially. After the clock connects to the application, the dummy IP address is overwritten with the actual IP address that is provided by the clock.
- Controller
- Specify the IP address of the DR600 reader. This field is also used with other reader models or when multiple readers are linked in a chain.
- Password
- Optionally, specify a password for the reader and reader server.
- Last Poll Date
- This is a read-only field that displays the last date and time the reader communicated with the clock server.
- For the WB8000 and WB9000 clocks, this field displays the last date and time the reader communicated with the application.
- Message
- Specify a message that is displayed on the clock reader.
- Time zone
- Click the database lookup and select the time zone of the reader.
- Sub Address
- Specify a sub address, in positive integer. Similar to Controller, this field lists the order that readers are linked in a chain (1,2,3).
- This applies to CMI readers only.
- Download File
- Specify the location of the reader’s download file. The download file is used as a program that defines the reader’s behavior.
- This applies to CMI and RSI readers.
- Auto Connect
- Select this check box to define when the reader connection to the server takes place.
- This applies to CMI and RSI readers.
- Display Size
- Specify the size of the CMI reader’s display, such as 2x20 or 4x20.
- This field applies to CMI readers only.
- Disable PIN Validation
- Select the check box to disable employee PIN validation so that employees only need to provide a badge, but not a PIN.
- Biometric Mode
-
Click the drop-down and select one of these options from the list:
- None: Select this option to disable biometric validation. This is the default setting.
- Identification: Select this option to allow employees to clock by only providing a fingerprint for either the 8000 Series or 9000 Series clocks. Employees have to enroll a fingerprint on the clock and then use the fingerprint to validate themselves. A badge is not required for clocking with this option, although for configuration purposes a placeholder badge for the employee must be entered in the system.
- Verification: Select this option to enable biometric validation for either the 8000 Series or 9000 Series clock so that employees have to enroll a fingerprint on the clock and then use the fingerprint to validate themselves after providing a badge.
- Enable Schedule Validation
- Select the check box to verify that the employee is scheduled to work at the time of the clock punch. If an employee attempts to punch in when they are not scheduled, the punch is rejected.
- Enable Swipe Sharing
-
Select this check box to enable swipe sharing for a WB8000 or WB9000 clock. You can use swipe sharing to allow an employee to use other clocks in their workplace that also have swipe sharing enabled. Employee swipes are shared between all clocks that belong to a single reader group.
Clear this check box to disable swipe sharing for this reader only. This change has no impact on the swipe sharing status of the reader group.
Note: You cannot enable swipe sharing for the reader if swipe sharing is not enabled for the reader group to which the reader belongs.See Adding reader groups.
For more information on configuration and the limitations of this feature, see the system administration guide for your clock.
- Start Grace
- Specify the grace period at the start of the employee’s shift during which an employee's swipe is considered valid.
- For example, if there is a 15 minute grace period set and an employees swipes in 10 minutes after the shift has started, the employee is considered to have swiped in on time.
- End Grace
- Specify the grace period at the end of the employee’s shift during which an employee's swipe is considered valid.
- For example, if there is a 15 minute grace period set and an employee swipes off 10 minutes before the shift has ended, the employee is considered to have swiped off on time.
- Swipe Method
-
Click the drop down to select the swipe type that is used by the clock from the list:
- Default
- Swipe and Go: PIN or biometric validation is not configured for this swipe type and employees only provide a badge during a clock in or out. The clock registers the swipe as type 11, which the Process Clocks task processes as an IN or OUT based on the previous swipe.
- Directionless: PIN or biometric validation can be configured for a directionless swipe. The employee must swipe a badge, provide a PIN or biometric validation if necessary, and then select the IN or OUT button on the clock. Regardless of which button is selected, the swipe is recorded as type 11, which the Process Clocks task processes as an IN or OUT based on the previous swipe.
- Click Save.
