Adding time code balance types

Time codes can be configured to automatically increment or decrement balances when encountered on an employee’s timesheet. Time code balance types are used to define exactly how the balance should be affected by the presence of a time code.

  1. Select Maintenance > Payroll Settings > Advanced Payroll Settings > New Time Code Balance Types.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Time Code Balance Type
Specify the name of the time code balance type.
    Description
Provide a brief description for the balance type.
    Minutes for Interval
Specify a value representing the round interval in minutes.
    Split at Minute
Specify a value representing the round split in minutes.
    Change by
Specify a unit of change for the balance. The unit of change must match the unit specified as the target balance.
Note: The default precision for this field is 2 decimal places. To ensure accurate conversion, increase the precision to 5 decimal places.

For example, if the balance is tracked in hours and the time code affects the balance per minute, the value in the Change By field shows how one minute is represented in hours using decimal format.

Additionally, a rounding logic based on the interval and split values are used. For example, if the Minutes for Interval field is set to 15, the Split at Minute field is set to 7, and the Change By field to 0.25, then charging 31 minutes to a time code linked to a balance increments the balance by 0.5.
