Geofencing
If employees use mobile devices for work, they can clock in or out from any location with internet access, even if they are not physically at the workplace. To prevent employees from clocking in or out from unauthorized locations, you can configure the geofencing clock validation rules. The employee's clock in or out is successful if they are within their expected geographic location.
As an administrator, you can configure geofencing at multiple coordinates for validation. Multiple coordinates are useful for employees who clock in or out at more than one location. The rule is especially useful when employees work at a home team location, a scheduled team location, or both. For example, delivery drivers often need to clock in or out from different locations due to the nature of their job. The delivery driver might start their shift at one location, make several stops at customer locations throughout the day, and complete their shift at a different location.
To use geofencing for clock in and out, employees must enable location services on their mobile devices. Devices must have GPS, cellular data, or Wi-Fi turned on to ensure accurate location tracking. Geofencing-based clock validation works on mobile devices that support location services, such as smartphones.

.For more information about the Geolocation API, see the W3C recommendation.
If a team does not have its own geolocation, it inherits the geolocation from its parent or another team in the hierarchy. If the immediate parent team does not have a geolocation, but a higher-level team does, the child team inherits that geolocation. A team that has inherited a geolocation can choose to opt out of geofencing.
