Billboard Processing task

The Billboard Processing task is used to manage shift postings by removing shifts from the billboard as the shift start time approaches. This prevents last-minute disruptions caused by claims made close to the shift start time. To optimize the functionality of the Billboard, you must schedule this task to run every minute according to a predefined schedule.

The task operates using these key parameters:

Shift Billboard Expiry Minutes: Specifies the number of minutes before a shift’s start time when employee-posted shifts are removed from the billboard.
Shift Billboard Expiry Minutes for Unassigned Shifts: Specifies the number of minutes before an unassigned shift’s start time when manager-posted shifts are removed from the billboard.

Note: After a shift is removed, it is no longer available for claim. Employees who posted unclaimed shifts are notified that their postings have expired and reminded of their responsibility to work the shift.

This task is also used to remove records of pending claim requests for expired shifts, which notifies the employees who submitted these claims that their requests have been rejected. By clearing expired shifts and claims, it prevents confusion over shifts that are no longer for claim.

Additionally, the Billboard Processing task is used to update the status of an employee’s bid from Active to Review after the bidding window closes, ensuring the shift is shown in the Pending Actions tab on the Open Shift Manager.
