Inactivating shifts

You can inactivate a shift when it is no longer applicable to the unit. Before doing so, any scheduled instances of the shift, whether published or not, are reviewed. You can only inactivate a shift after the Used on or in active rotations/templates until date. If the shift is subscribed to by child teams, the Used on or in active rotations/templates until date includes all subscribing child teams. After a shift is inactivated, you can no longer use the shift for scheduling in the team or any of its subscribing teams.

Note: To inactivate a shift, ensure that no schedule sources in MVS, such as Master Rotation, One-time Schedule, Advanced Schedule View, or Relief Management, can generate the shift. For example, you cannot inactivate a shift if it is still used in an active rotation. If the shift is included in a template and the template is effective until January 1, 3000, it continues to be published until that date, keeping the shift active.

To remove the shift from a template, you can create a new version of the affected template rows, remove the shift from those rows, and activate the updated version. After the new row version takes effect, future schedules generated from it no longer include the shift, allowing you to inactivate the shift after the effective start date.
