Using reader configurations

A reader configuration is a collection of properties that control various aspects of behavior and configuration for the clock.

The available configuration properties are static. You can change the value for each property for each reader configuration. A reader configuration becomes functional when it is associated with a reader group.

You can create several versions of your reader configuration as you refine your clock deployment. The previous version of the reader configuration can be used as the basis or reference for your new reader configuration. The start date and end date for each reader configuration determine which configuration is currently active.

Certain rules regarding reader configuration start dates, the modification of existing reader configurations, and the reader groups associated with a reader configuration are enforced through WFM.

TimeTrack reloads automatically when the application detects Reader Configuration or WFM version changes. The application checks for changes in the Configuration ID or WFM version every 5 minutes. The 5-minute interval is fixed and not configurable. If a change is detected:
  • An alert message is displayed.
  • Any ongoing employee action is stopped.
  • The TimeTrack UI is locked.

Once the employee confirms the message by pressing the OK button, the application reloads immediately. If no action is taken, the reload occurs automatically after 15 seconds.
