Partial shift bidding and claiming in Shift Broadcast

Shift Broadcast is used to bid on partial shifts. To enable this feature, the user who broadcasts the shift must select the Allow Partial Shift Claims check box on the Broadcast Shift page.

See Infor Workforce Management User and Administration Library (Multi-tenant) > User > MVS > Broadcasting shifts to mobile devices

Open shifts are communicated through these channels, allowing employees to claim, reject, or submit bids for partial shifts:

Text messages (SMS)

These rules apply when an employee submits partial shift bids through SMS:
  • Employees can bid on multiple time intervals by specifying start and end times for each segment.

For example, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

  • Multiple bids are accepted.

Any new bid that overlaps with an existing one overwrites the previous bid.

  • Bids submitted using the Offer ID are treated as full shift claims and replace all previous partial bids.
  • Time entries are parsed into start–end pairs regardless of the order entered.
  • A confirmation message is provided for valid submissions, and invalid cases are highlighted, such as times outside the shift offer, incorrect syntax, or an end time occurring before the start time.

Phone call/Voicemail (IVR)

Employees can respond to IVR calls by selecting partial bid options. During a call, after selecting a partial bid option, the employee is prompted to provide the start and end times for each partial segment. These time pairs are given in any sequence and are validated to ensure correct formatting, logical time sequence, and alignment with the shift offer.

A confirmation message is played after successful completion, and errors result in an error message indicating the issue. However, because IVR calls are single-session, employees cannot submit additional partial bids unless they use IVR voicemail.
