Adding an override type

To add an override type, you must start with one of the system-defined base override types. In the Daily Timsesheet, additional overrides that are created from the base types are identified by an asterisk beside the override name.

Note: The override popup for any additional overrides that you create is currently shown in the Daily Timesheet only. It is not yet supported in the Weekly Timesheet, Mass Edit Creation, Mobility, or the Self Service Portal.

In an on-premises environment, you can also create your own override types by creating custom JSP pages. The ability to create override types from the Override Type page was added more recently. If you previously created custom JSP pages, you should evaluate whether it would be better to keep the existing JSP pages or use the new process.

  1. Select Maintenance > Payroll Settings > Advanced Payroll Settings > Override Types.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Override Type
    Specify a name for the override type.
    Note: The name that you specify here is not necessarily the name that will be shown in the Daily Timesheet. The Daily Timesheet uses the localized display name that you specify in Maintenance > System Administration > Data Localization > Language Translation. The name that you specify in the Override Types form is used by default, but it can be changed.
    Base Type
    Specify the base override type that the custom override type is based on, such as Work Premium or Employee Holiday.
    Note: Not all base override types are supported for custom overrides. All base types are shown in the popup for the Base Type field, but only these base types are currently supported:
    • Work Detail
    • Work Premium
    • LTA
    • Elapsed Time (supported, but only one row will be shown)
    • Employee Holiday
    • Post Calc WRKD
    • Pre Calc WRKP
    • Standby
    • Retail Tip
    Active
    When the Active check box is selected, the override type is active and can be included in timesheet calculations.
    Note: For the override type to be displayed on a particular page, you must also select the check box for that page, such as Show on Weekly Timesheet. On the Daily Timesheet and the Schedule page, selecting the Active check box makes the override type available in the New Edit drop-down list.
    Show as Link
    Select this check box to allow users to edit custom overrides that were previously applied from the Daily Timesheet.
    Allow Mass Edit
    Do not select this check box. If it is selected, the override type will not be shown in the New Edit drop-down list in the Daily Timesheet.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Override Type Permissions grid, specify the permissions for the override type.
  6. In the Override Type Tokens grid, specify the tokens that are available for the custom override type.
    The tokens represent the values that can be updated with this override type. The tokens that you can select depend on the base override type that you specified. For each token, specify this information:
    Token
    Specify the token that you are adding to this override type.
    Default Field
    Select this check box to use the default UI configuration for the token. If this check box is cleared, the UI configuration will be blank so you can create your own.
    Order
    Specify the order in which the token is displayed. Custom tokens can be shown either before or after the standard override fields. The standard fields have these order numbers:
    • OVR_START_DATE: 1000
    • OVR_END_DATE: 1100
    • START_TIME_DATE: 1200
    • OVR_START_TIME: 1300
    • OVR_END_TIME: 1400
    • OVR_COMMENT: 1500

    For example, to place a custom token between the START_TIME_DATE field and the OVR_START_TIME field, give it an order number between 1200 and 1300.

    Note: You can set individual security permissions for custom override type tokens in the override popup. The popup is shown when users click the pencil button in the Daily Timesheet. The permissions that you set for standard override tokens can be used for other override types that use the same token names, but permissions for custom override tokens are unique to that override type.
