Defining Census Teams and Requirements
The Define Census Teams and Requirements Detail page allows you to establish a ratio between census (beds) and staff. You select the job (for example, RN) and day part (for example, Morning), and enter the ratio of employees to beds. For example, if the number of beds is four, the number of employees required is two.
To define census teams and requirements:

Select
Scheduling > Multi-view
Scheduler > Advanced Settings > Define
Census Teams And Requirements.
The Define Census Teams and Requirements page is displayed.

Do one of the following:
- Click Create New Entry to create new census data. The Define Census Teams and Requirements Detail page is displayed.
- Click Edit beside a census team to make changes to existing census data. Proceed to step 5.

Specify this information:
- Census Team Name*
- Type the name of the new census team.
- Census Team Description
- Type a description of the new census team.
- Team*
- Select the team you are defining the new census for from the lookup.
- Start Date
- Select the start date for the census data.
- End Date
- Select the end date for the census data.
- Save
- Click to save the new census team data and display the Define Census Teams and Requirements Details page.
- Return to Form Listing
- Click to return to the Define Census Teams and Requirements page.

Save.
The Define Census Teams and Requirements Detail page is displayed.

Complete the following fields on the Staffing Requirements
Definition Details page:
- Job
- Select a job from the Job lookup.
- Day Part
- Select a day part from the Day Part lookup.
- Employees Required
- Type the number of employees used in the staff:bed ratio.
- Number of Beds
- Type the number of beds used in the staff:bed ratio. (For example, if you enter 4 in this field and 2 in the Employees Required field, it means that, if four beds are filled in the department, two employees are required.)
- Skill
- Select the skill requirement using the Skill lookup. Only employees with this skill in their profile can be used to fill this requirement.
- Activity
- Select the activity the employee will perform using the Activity lookup. For example, when you are defining an On-Call staffing requirement, you need to specify an On-Call activity.
- Project
- Select the project metric using the Project lookup.
- Docket
- Select the docket metric using the Docket lookup.
- Department
- Select the team to which the employee belongs for this activity (the employee’s default (home) team or a temporary team). For instance, if an employee from one team is loaned to another team for one activity during the shift, the activity needs to be associated with that team.
- Priority
- Type a number here to prioritize how staffing requirements are filled.
- Skill Level
- If it applies, you can type a skill level to apply to the Skill field.
- Save
- Click to save the new data.
- Return to Form Listing
- Click to return to the Define Census Requirements page.

The staffing requirements are saved.
