Break rules and manual shift edits

The LFSO Schedule screen can ensure that break rules are followed when users make manual edits to the schedule. Users can select the Reassign Break/Meal Automatically after Shift Edit check box when performing edits to shifts. This adjusts break activities in the edited shift based on the new shift times and length. These adjustments may include adding or removing break activities from the shift. They may also include modifying break activities in terms of their length, start time, or activity code. When a user creates a new shift, break activities can be automatically added to the new shift if this check box is selected.

In schedules created using the Staff Groups model, breaks are adjusted based on the break rules of the staff groups used to generate the schedule. For schedules generated from multiple staff groups, the staff group specified in each employee's profile determines the set of break rules used when shifts assigned to that employee are edited.

Breaks in schedules created using the Auto-Assignment model are adjusted using the break rules for the Auto-Assignment groups. For schedules created using one group, break activities are adjusted for all employees according to the break rules for the Auto-Assignment group. For schedules generated using multiple groups, each employee in the schedule uses break rules from the Auto-Assignment group that selected the employee in its group filters. If multiple groups selected the same employee, then the break rules are used for the group that had the highest priority during schedule creation.
