Facial recognition

The default method of biometric validation is fingerprint scanning. You can also configure the 8200 series clock to use facial recognition to validate employees.

If facial recognition is enabled, the clock screen shows the camera feed instead of the badge entry screen. When an enrolled employee shows their face to the camera, the clock verifies the employee and shows clock options such as clocking in, clocking out, or changing jobs.

Employees can also press the ESC key to show the badge entry screen and use a badge number for validation instead, or press their finger on the sensor to use fingerprint validation.

If facial recognition is enabled with Swipe and Go, employees can clock in and out with no contact.

You must also set the biometric mode for your readers to Identification.

See Configuring biometric validation.

Reader configurations

If you are using reader configurations, use these configuration properties to configure facial recognition.

See Using reader configurations.

feature.face
Specify Y to enable facial recognition.
feature.face.mode
Specify NONE or IDENTIFICATION.

ui.use_badge_entry_for_not_enrolled_face
If Y, then the clock automatically switches to the badge entry screen if an employee's face is not enrolled.

Settings.conf

If you are not using reader configurations, use these properties in settings.conf to configure facial recognition.

See Configuring the clock.

biometric.face_recognition
Set to true to enable facial recognition.
biometric.face_recognition.switch_to_badge_entry_when_not_enrolled
If true, then the clock automatically switches to the badge entry screen if an employee's face is not enrolled.
biometric.face_recognition.message.timeout
