Special Days and Matching Days
Special days are days when there are unusual changes to volume types, such as AHR, sales, units, and transactions, because of unusual circumstances. For example:
- Sales increase sharply because of the discounted prices on the day after Thanksgiving.
- There is a steep decline in sales on the day of a big snowstorm.
Special days are relevant to all forecast methods except the Budget Adjusted Trend forecast method, which does not use special day matching because it is a weekly forecast method.
You configure special days on the Add Special Days page in LFSO, which you display using the following menu path:
On this page, specify:
- whether to use actuals from a special day to generate forecasts for other days. See Ignoring Actuals from Special Days when Generating Plans.
- how to generate forecasts for a special day. See Generating Plans for Special Days.
