Step 4: Importing the contents of the Inbound Migration file

In the previous step, you learned how to import the Inbound Migration file into WFM using Job Scheduler. In this step, you will learn how to import the contents of the Inbound Migration file into your WFM application. This step uses a wizard with three major steps:

  • Select Migration
  • View Records
  • Review

To import the contents of the Inbound Migration file into your target instance of WFM:

  1. In your target environment/instance of WFM, select Maintenance > System Administration > Data Migration > Migration Import > Import Inbound Migration.
  2. From Inbound Migration Name, select the name of the Inbound Migration that you want to import.
  3. Click +Add and Close.
  4. In Import Note, you can specify a short description for the import.
  5. Click Next to display the View Records screen of the wizard which only displays tables, not functional objects.

    In this screen you can:

    • View the records for each table which are displayed as tabs across the screen.
    • View the Operation type for each record (typically Insert, Update, Delete).
  6. Click the arrow icon to view record details.

The View Record Details window displays the Field Name, Old Value (before migration), New Value (after migration), and Changed flag.

The View Record Details window also shows the total number of fields changed.

Note: As of release 2024.09, you can use the Changed column to review the differences between the source and the target records. However, this feature is not available for migrations performed prior to this release.
  7. Optional. Click the Changed column to sort the records by their changed status. This status shows the fields where the values differ between the target and the source. Click Close to exit the screen.
Note: Changes to the UTC_INSERT_DATE and UTC_UPDATE_DATE fields are not reflected in the list of records.

  8. Click Next to display the Review screen of the wizard. You can once again review the records and the details of the migration.
  9. If you are satisfied with the details of the migration, click Migrate.

A Job Scheduler task now completes the migration.

  10. To view the details of the migration, select Maintenance > System Administration > Job Scheduler.

In the Job Scheduler task list, the Migrate Task will automatically run and complete the migration. You will receive a Workmail that the migration has completed successfully.
