Understanding Mail Forwarder technical details

The Mail Forwarder uses the SMTP forwarding service component. This component automatically forwards email from the Workforce Management system to a client-specified external mail host. The external host can only be sent mail by users with an external email address listed in the Workforce Management system.

When the SMTP forwarding service is used, a client-specified domain name is automatically appended to any Workforce Management username in a forwarded email.

For example, a user named Robert Skinner works for a company called Worldwide Industrial. Robert Skinner’s external email address is rskinner@worldwideindustrial.com and his Workforce Management email address is rskinner.

By specifying Robert’s external address in the WFM application (specifically, in the Email Address field of the Users Detail panel), the Mail Forwarder sends all WFM email addressed to rskinner to Robert’s external email address.
