Daylight saving time (DST)
When the time moves forward an hour for daylight saving time (DST) in the spring, the application automatically converts the time for clock transactions that are collected from CMI and Synel clock readers, or manually entered through the timesheet. For example, in North American timezones the time typically moves forward from 02:00 to 03:00 at the beginning of DST. Therefore the conversion applies to any clocks between 02:00 to 03:00, such as automatically converting a 02:30 clock transaction to 03:30.
Note: The application does not automatically convert clock transactions
when the time moves back an hour in the fall. For example, in North American timezones the
time typically moves back from 02:00 to 01:00. However, a 01:30 clock transaction is not
converted, because 01:30 occurs twice during the transition back to standard time: once
before the clock moves back and a second time after the clock moves back. There is no way
to distinguish between the two occurrences, so WFM always considers these clocks as the
second occurrence after the time change.
