Condition sets and rule parameters

After you have set up a calculation group and assigned the applicable rules, you must define the parameters for each rule. You can use conditions sets to apply different parameters depending on the circumstance in which the rule is executed. Each condition set defines a different set of parameters for the rule.

For example, a rule that determines how much overtime to pay an employee might use one set of parameters for holidays and another for regular workdays. In this case you would define two different condition sets. One defines what is considered a holiday and the other lists the circumstances that are considered a workday. Each defines a different set of rules to calculate overtime.

Each condition set can have one or more conditions and one set of rule parameters. The rule parameters are applied when all the conditions in a set are true.

If a rule has more than one condition set, there are two ways in which the condition sets can be evaluated. By default the rule is executed once for the first condition set that is satisfied, and the remaining condition sets are ignored. You can also configure a rule to execute once for each condition set that is satisfied, not only the first one.
