School and Student Calendar and Filtering: Overview
Many municipalities require companies who employ minor students to meet requirements for number of hours students can work on school days.
The Schedule Compliance School Calendar module enables customers to create schedules for the schools their employees attend. The module tracks school days to ensure that student schedules follow requirements.
The School Calendar module also enables customers to identify Schedule Exceptions, days when school is not in session and, therefore, the school day work requirements do not apply.
Example: Public High School 1
Many students who work for your company attend Public High School 1. You can create a calendar for the school that meets these requirements from the municipality and the school.
- Students ages 14-17 can work only two hours on school days.
- Work hours cannot conflict with school hours.
- Shifts cannot extend past 21:00 (9:00 pm).
- Classes are in session from 8:00 to 16:00 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm) Monday through Friday from September 1 through June 15.
- Classes are not in session during these breaks:
- December 15-31
- March 15-21
- During the calendar period: The schedules of student employees under the age of 18 are subject to municipal requirements Monday through Friday from September 1 through June 15 except during breaks. On Saturdays and Sundays and during breaks, municipal requirements are ignored. Students can work any hours.
- Outside of the calendar period, from June 16 to August 31: Municipal requirements are ignored for student employees. They can work any hours.
