Analyzing native SQL from your report

You can view the generated SQL for a query to give you a better understanding of how your reports perform against a large database. You can view the SQL with these options: Cognos SQL and Native SQL. Cognos SQL is the entire SQL that Cognos uses to perform the query. Native SQL is the actual SQL that Cognos sends to the database to perform the query.

  1. Click Queries and select a query.
  2. In the Properties pane, double-click the Generated SQL property.
    The Generated SQL dialog box is displayed.
  3. Use the drop-down box to view the query in either Cognos SQL or Native SQL.
