Creating a new space group or adding users to a space group
Access control lists (permissions or access rights) can be assigned to user groups. Each space can have groups that contain users and have access rights. Users can be members of multiple groups. The users in a group get the access rights assigned to the group. This can be assigned through Admin 2.0 or by Using the Command Window. When a user belongs to more than one account group, the permissions are inclusive.
- Select a Birst Space and select Space Management.
- Select Space Groups.
- To create a new group, select +(Create Group)
- In the Group Name field, provide a name for the group.

Assign permissions to the group. All members of the group will have the same
permissions.
These permissions are available:
- Designer Access
- Permission to access Designer and create reports. If this box is
selected, users in the group see Designer as one of the choices on
the right side of the home page after logging in.
The ACL tag is Adhoc.
- Visualizer Access
- Permission to access Visualizer and create reports. If this box is
selected, users in the group see Visualizer as one of the choices on
the right side of the home page after logging in.
The ACL tag is Visualizer.
- Smart Analytics Access
- Enables users to access features available through Smart
Analytics.
The ACL tag is SmartAnalytics.
- Edit Dashboard
- Permission to create and edit dashboards.
The ACL tag is EditDashboard.
- Enable Download
- Permission to export reports to a file such as a comma-separated
value (.csv) or Excel (.xlsx) file.
The ACL tag is EnableDownload.
- Enable Email Export
- Export report data via email from Dashboard up to the space's max
query limit.
The ACL tag is EnableEmailExport.
- Enable Self-Schedule
- Permission to schedule report delivery from Designer and
Dashboards.
The ACL tag is SelfScheduleAllowed.
- Modify Saved Expression
- Permission to create and modify saved expressions in Designer. In
Visualizer, you must have this permission to make an expression
global.
The ACL tag is ModifySavedExpressionsAllowed.
- Edit Report Catalog
- In Designer only, permission to modify files and folders in each
user’s Private folder and the Shared folder only. Users can right
click on the report or folder title in the Open Report dialog. To
add, modify, or delete contents within the Shared folder, the user’s
group must also have write permission on the Shared folder or its
subfolder.
The ACL tag is EditReportCatalog.
- Dashboard Visualizer Exploration
- Permission to access Visualizer. For members of this group, the
Explore in Visualizer button appears in the dashlet menu area.
The ACL tag is ExploreInVisualizer.
- Enable Bookmarks
- Use bookmarks in Dashboards 2.0.
The ACL tag is EnableBookmarks.
- Enable Storytelling
- Allows Users in the Group to access storytelling on mobile
devices.
The ACL tag is EnableStorytelling.
- Disable Filter Edit Access
- Enabling this permissions prevents a user from creating, modifying, or deleting filters. Users can still view and apply filters. This ACL does not affect Native Filters.
- Disable "Copy Dashboard & Reports"
- Enabling this permissions prevents a user from using the "Copy Dashboard & Reports" option when copying a Dashboard.
- Disable Space Groups
- Enabling this permission prevents a user from creating Space Groups in any space.
- Create Enterprise Spaces
- Allows users to create an Enterprise space. Enterprise spaces enable complex, scalable data management with dimensional data models.
- End User Data Blending
- Allows users to blend data from a master space, such as a governed enterprise data store, with local data (sandbox) they upload from their desktops.
- Open Client Interface
- Enables users to use OCI to externally connect Birst to other clients, like Microsoft Excel and Tableau.
- Create Professional Space
- Allows users to create a Professional space. Professional spaces enable streamlined data analysis with self-service data preparation.
- Monitoring
- Enabling this permission allows non-admin users in the group to access Monitoring in Admin 2.0 for the specified space.
- Create Tags
- Allows users to create new tags and delete existing tags in Report Catalog.
- Edit Tags
- Allows users to add and remove tags from files and folders in Report Catalog.
- Assign members of the space to the group by selecting Add User and searching for the member and then selecting Save.

To delete a group, select the group in the list and click Delete.
