GEO_VALIDATION_GRACE
- Description
-
This parameter sets a grace period in minutes for geo-validation. The grace period extends the scheduled time an employee is expected at the designated work area. If the employee clocks in outside the scheduled time and the grace period but within the designated work area, the system marks the clock in as outside the employee's expected geolocation.
For example, if you schedule an employee to work on Team A from 09:00 to 17:00 and the grace period is set to 5 minutes, the system adjusts the expected location to Team A from 08:55 to 17:05. With this configuration, if the employee clocks in within the Team A zone at 08:57, the system considers the employee is within the expected geolocation, even though the shift does not start until 09:00. However, if the employee clocks in at 08:52, it is considered outside the expected geolocation, regardless of the clock's coordinates.
An employee can clock in during the scheduled time, even if it exceeds the grace period. For example, if an employee is scheduled from 09:00 to 17:00 with a 5-minute grace period, they can clock in at 09:06 or at any time between 08:55 and 17:05.
When an employee is scheduled on multiple teams in one day, the grace period results in an overlap of expected locations. For example, if an employee is scheduled on Team A from 09:00 to 13:00 and Team B from 13:00 to 17:00 with a grace period of 5 minutes, the system sets the expected location as Team A or Team B from 12:55 to 13:05. If the employee clocks in during this overlap time and the employee is within Team A or Team B zone, the clock in is recorded as within one of the employee's expected geolocations.
The value is blank by default, thus geo-validation is not enforced.
