Canceling booked off shift segments
- Multiple segments of the shift are canceled in separate transactions.
- Multiple non-contiguous segments of the shift are canceled in the same transaction.
The book off segments that can be canceled correspond with the relief shifts that were created to cover the booked off shifts. When you cancel a book off segment that has a filled relief shift associated with it, you must select a relief option to determine how manage the relief shift.
These example scenarios describe shifts that were booked off using different variations of book off transactions. For each example shift, the book off segments that can be canceled are listed.
Example: Full book off
An entire 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM shift is booked off with the VAC book off code. The book off can only be canceled for the entire shift. This would also be the case if the entire shift was booked off with multiple book off codes in a single transaction, for example from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM as VAC and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM as PTO.
Example: Partial book off with one book off segment
A 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM shift is booked off from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with the VAC book off code. Only one book off segment can be canceled for 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Example: Partial book off with multiple, contiguous segments
- 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the VAC book off code
- 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the PTO book off code
Only one book off segment can be canceled for 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Example: Partial book off with multiple, non-contiguous segments
- 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the VAC book off code
- 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with the PTO book off code
Two book off segments can be canceled separately: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Example: Partial book off performed in separate transactions
A 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM shift is booked off in the first transaction from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the VAC book off code. The same shift is then booked off in a second transaction from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the PTO book off code.
Two book off segments can be canceled separately: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
