When lengthening a shift, if the result of the edit would cause a partial overlap with another shift of the same employee, you will receive a warning message indicating the impacted shift(s). The warning message visually presents the shift overlap situation, as well as the resulting schedule if the overlap is managed. If you proceed with the edit transaction, then the impacted shift(s) will be shortened to accommodate the transaction as shown in the warning, resulting in consecutive shifts.
For example, an employee is scheduled with two shifts on the same day, 7:00 to 15:00 and 15:00 to 23:00. If you extend the earlier shift by 2 hours (ending shift at 17:00 instead), then the start time of the later shift will be changed to 17:00 to accommodate the shift edit.
Note: If the overlap completely covers an impacted shift, then the shift edit is not permitted and an error message is displayed. Similarly, the shift edit is not permitted if the overlap includes booked off time with another shift.
