Coverage calculations

The level of staff coverage is determined by comparing the shifts plotted in the schedule with the required workload from the Staffing Requirements Template (SRT).

You can determine how to calculate staff coverage using the Display Employee Count list. The By Over/Under option calculates the staff coverage as the number of units over or under the workload requirement. The By Coverage option calculates staff coverage as a ratio between the workload requirement and the assigned shifts in the schedule.

For example, if eight shifts are required for RNs on a particular day but only six are assigned on that day, the coverage calculated using the By Over/Under option is -2. The coverage calculated by the By Coverage option for the same example is 6/8.
