Coverage display options

To change how the coverage information is displayed, click the Coverage Options (grid) icon. The display options are displayed in a popup.

Sorting the coverage by position, day part or shift count

When sorted by position (By Position option), the coverage information is sorted by Team, then Position, and then Day Part. With release 2024.04, a field, Hide Empty Coverage Rows, has been added. If the field is selected, empty rows do not display on the scheduling page. If the field is not checked, empty rows display. The default behavior for this field can be changed using Config mode.

When sorted by day part (By Day Part option), the coverage information is sorted by Team, then Day Part, and then Position.

When sorted by shift count (By Shift Count option), the coverage information is sorted by Shift Count, Team, then Day Part, and then Position.

Coverage calculations

To display the By Over/Under or By Coverage information, the system determines the required workload and the scheduled workload.

The required workload is defined as the unit of hours that is specific to a Team-Job-Day Part combination. When displayed in hours (By Hours option), the workload value is displayed to one decimal place. When displayed in FTE value (By FTE option), the number of required FTE is calculated as the value of required workload divided by the length of each day part. For example, 30 hours of required workload is converted to 2.5 required employees in a 12-hour day part team.

Scheduled hours is calculated as the total number of hours in the scheduled shifts associated to the day part (in shift configuration).

The By FTE option calculates the number of scheduled hours divided by the duration of the day part.

Over and under coverage is determined by the number of scheduled hours compared to required hours. Over-coverage days use a blue font. Under-coverage days use a red font. Days with matching coverage use a black font.

Sorting the coverage by shift count

The By Shift Count option displays coverage by the total number of shifts on each day. The shift counts are sorted into these levels: overall shifts, by team, by job, and by shift label. Note that shifts that have been modified through detail edits or partial book offs are counted towards their original shift label.

You can use the options in the Include Shifts section to determine which shifts are included in the shift counts. The All option includes both assigned and unassigned shifts. The Assigned option includes only assigned shifts. These assigned shifts are included in the shift counts:
  • MVS shifts assigned to any employee that is currently displayed in ASV
  • Partially booked off shifts, as long as at least one minute of working time is remaining from the original shift
  • Partially floated away shifts, as long as at least one minute of working time is remaining from the original shift
These assigned shifts are not included:
  • Fully booked off shifts
  • Fully floated away shifts
  • Approved time off requests on unscheduled days
  • Non-MVS shifts

The Unassigned option includes only unassigned shifts. Unfilled relief shifts are counted as unassigned shifts, including relief shifts that are not displayed in ASV due to their relief status.

Configuring the display options

Using Config mode, you can update the default values, labels, and security settings to hide individual options.
