Properties and requirements for splitting a shift

The ability to split shifts must be enabled. Enabling Split Shift and Merge Shift on the ASV screen

The combined portions of a split shift must equal the exact duration of the original shift. In some cases, the placement of break activities in the split portions of the shift may need to be adjusted.

If a shift that has been split has been assigned on-call status, the on-call status will also be split.

Warning messages display when an attempt to split a shift occurs in these situations:
  • The split would make the shift portions non-contiguous.
  • The split assigns the shift to more than one employee.
