Associating an activity to an activity type

After creating an activity, you must associate it with an activity type.

  1. Select Scheduling > Multi-view Scheduler > Advanced Settings > ES Data Definitions > Activity Type Map.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Activity
Select the activity that you are mapping to an activity type.
    Activity Type
Select one of these activity types:
    • On: Indicates work or productive time, including meal and break times. Typical activities of this type are WRK, BRK, and UAT.
    • Time Off: Indicates leave time. When a user uses these activities to book time off, an LTA override is applied to the employee's timesheet. Typical activities of this type are SICK and VAC.
    • Off: Indicates special leave time. When a user uses these activities to book time off, the shift is removed altogether from the employee's timesheet (instead of an LTA override being applied).
    • On-call: Indicates time when an employee is on-call. Shifts containing activity of this type allow concurrent work time, so both the on-call time and work time (when the employee is called into work) can be recorded. On-call shifts cannot contain meal or break times.
    Leave Reason Required
Select this check box to require users to select a reason from the Leave Reason lookup when booking time off. If selected, at least one reason must be configured; otherwise, the request cannot be submitted by users. This option only applies to activities mapped to the Time Off and Off types.
    Comment Required
Select this check box to require users to specify comments in the Comments field when booking time off. This option only applies to activities mapped to the Time Off and Off types.
    Time Off Type
Optionally, select a time off type to map the leave activity to. When a user books time off with an activity that is mapped to a time off type, an approved leave using this time off type is added to the Time Off Planner. This field only applies to activities mapped to the Time Off type.
  4. Click Save.
