Day start time examples
Example: Day start time is before noon
For this example, customer CORP1 starts their days at 9:00 in the morning.
In CORP1’s scheduling, there are two shifts:
- Shift A is defined from 8:00 to 16:00.
Because of the 9:00 day start time, shift A actually starts at 8:00 on the next day.
- Shift B is defined from 10:00 to 18:00.
Because of the 9:00 day start time, shift B starts at 10:00 on the current day.
When a team's schedule is prepared:
- Bob is scheduled to work shift A on January 3, so Bob's scheduler puts “A” on the shift cell on January 3.
- Carol is scheduled to work shift B on January 8, so Carol's scheduler puts “B” on the shift cell on January 8.
For the January 3 shift, Bob shows up to work at 8:00 in the morning of January 4 and leaves work at 16:00 in the afternoon of January 4. In the scheduling screens, Bob’s shift is shown on January 3. To indicate that the shift started on January 4, Next is selected in the Detail Day field in the shift details.
For the January 8 shift, Carol shows up to work at 10:00 in the morning of January 8 and leaves work at 18:00 in the afternoon of January 8. In the scheduling screens, Carol’s shift is shown on January 8.
Example: Day start time is after noon
For this example, customer CORP2 starts their days at 18:00 in the evening.
In CORP2’s scheduling, there are two shifts:
- Shift C is defined from 17:00 to 1:00.
Because of the 18:00 day start time, shift C starts at 17:00 on the current day.
- Shift D is defined from 20:00 to 4:00.
Because of the 18:00 day start time, shift D actually starts at 20:00 on the previous day.
When a team's schedule is prepared:
- Don is scheduled to work shift C on January 3, so Don's scheduler puts “C” on the shift cell on January 3.
- Evan is scheduled to work shift D on January 8, so Evan's scheduler puts “D” on the shift cell on January 8.
For the January 3 shift, Don shows up to work at 17:00 in the afternoon of January 3 and leaves work at 1:00 in the morning of January 4. In the scheduling screens, Don’s shift is shown on January 3.
For the January 8 shift, Evan shows up to work at 20:00 in the evening of January 7 and leaves work at 4:00 in the morning of January 8. In the scheduling screens, Evan’s shift is shown on January 8. To indicate that the shift started on January 7, Prev is selected in the Detail Day field in the shift details.
