Schedule costing relationship with Timesheet cost
The schedule cost may differ from the actual cost incurred when the schedule is executed. The schedule cost displayed in MVS assumes that employees work all scheduled time with no deviations. For example, if an employee is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the cost calculated for this shift assumes the employee will work the exact shift down to the minute, including any breaks or on-call activities. When the Time and Attendance service is used, any core and custom pay rules are factored into the cost calculation based on an employee's scheduled time.
The actual time that an employee works can be changed if the employee records clocks outside the exact times of their shift. The employee would then be paid according to the actual hours worked. Clocks recorded outside the scheduled shift times can also trigger additional pay rules. In either case, the employee's actual compensation would be different than the schedule cost displayed in MVS.
Schedule edits made in the Timesheet can also affect the actual cost. The cost displayed for MVS shifts is not updated for schedule detail overrides, which can change the actual cost of the shifts. Shifts created in the Timesheet are included in the ASV cost calculation when the Time and Attendance service is used, but are not included when the MVS service is used. The MR and OTS edit screens never include the cost of shifts created in the Timesheet.
