Relief shifts and unassigned shifts in rotations
MR and OTS rows cannot be assigned during periods that overlap relief shifts. Additionally, new row versions cannot be activated in an MR or OTS template for periods overlapping any relief shifts. This applies to shifts in any relief status. Shifts from a rotation that have been sent to relief are displayed in the MR and OTS edit screens with a yellow background. They are also displayed, similar to other relief shifts, in the Vacant section of the Relief Queue.
Shifts in unassigned rows in an MR or OTS are added to the schedule as unassigned shifts when the rotation is processed. These shifts may be assigned to employees in other MVS screens, such as ASV. When assigned, shifts from unassigned rotation rows are placed into the relief process with a relief status of FILLED. This prevents users from assigning the row or activating a new row version for the periods that overlap the shift dates.
You can use the REMOVE_VACANT_SHIFTS_FROM_RELIEF_UPON_UNASSIGNING registry parameter to control the behavior when a shift from an unassigned rotation row is assigned and then unassigned. This registry parameter is set to false by default, which keeps these shifts in relief. When a shift is unassigned, the relief status for the shift is updated to UNFILLED. This prevents users from assigning the unassigned rotation row or activating new row versions during periods overlapping the shift date.
You can specify true in the REMOVE_VACANT_SHIFTS_FROM_RELIEF_UPON_UNASSIGNING registry parameter to remove these shifts from relief when the shifts are assigned and then unassigned. When a shift is unassigned, the shift is no longer displayed in the Relief Queue. Users can assign or re-activate the unassigned rotation row for periods overlapping the shift date.
